Variations on a theme by Samuel Beckett “Oh, les beaux jours”

In this ballet, Maurice Béjart sets free Winnie, the heroine Of “Happy Days,” one of Samuel Beckett’s most famous plays. Her “mound” is no longer a sad mound of dandelions, but a delightful hillock of pink shoes which opens like a flower to let its occupant escape. Where Beckett unleashes violence in immobility, Béjart dissolves it into dance.
