Entrelacs

J-Ch. Maillot

"Rendering retinal that which is auditive..."

From the start, Jean-Christophe Maillot imposes the rules of the game, even more than providing his audience with the capacity to “see the music and listen to the dancing” as recommended by George Balanchine. “The choreography signed by Jean-Christophe Maillot and the musical score composed by Yan Maresz fuse to the point of making Entrelacs an entirely invisible work. Electrons gravitating around the musical nucleus, they have gotten rid of all the effects."
Like an architect or calligrapher, Jean-Christophe Maillot makes lines intertwine. With his geometric curves and lines, the choreographer develops a science where nothing is by chance.
