CARMEN

Johan Inger

This passionate and feisty Carmen, reinvented by Johan Inger has received standing ovations throughout the world and earned the Swedish choreographer a “Benois de la Danse” in 2016. To meet the challenge of taking on a legend so rooted in Spanish culture, Johan Inger chose to reveal his heroine through the eyes of a child, enveloping the obscure swirls of seduction and violence in mystery.

“That child could be any of us, experiencing violence which, however brief, would have a permanent negative influence on our lives and on our capacity to bond with others.” Johan Inger

With the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, direction Manuel COVES
