Faust

J-Ch. Maillot

In exchange of eternal youth and a life of pleasures, Faust must sell his soul to the devil...

Seduced by the romantic dimension of this universal myth, this time the choreographer has chosen the musical score of Franz Liszt for this atypical ballet.
He decodes what is hidden behind the music, has his company’s forty-five dancers on stage, meets up with Goethe and Marlowe and focuses on the essential: the triangular relation between the  symbolic characters, Marguerite, the female image ideal, beauty of the body and the spirit, Mephisto, the utter evil, and Faust, the human being blessed with an amazing gift of knowledge, nevertheless caught up by death, an end to his life on earth.
Three antagonists whose rules of the game are: "The two opposite forces must use the third one to find the other!"
The story of a strange and mysterious relation endlessly recounted for thirteen human generations and constantly renewed in its expression.
