Back on track 61

J-Ch. Maillot

Musicality has always occupied a key place in Jean- Christophe Maillot’s work. Among the works which developed his musical sensibility, Ravel’s Concerto in G has been dormant in him for years and represents the choreographer’s personal Everest. At 61 years of age Jean-Christophe Maillot has decided to climb it, in memory of his father who introduced it to him when he was a child.

The relationship with time passing and the constant need to create are at the heart of Back on Track 61. As a mise-en-abyme of his thinking, Jean-Christophe Maillot offers the Company’s choreographic artists the presence of Bernice Coppieters and Asier Uriagereka, iconic dancers of Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo, who take to the stage once more to bring all the subtleties of their interpretation, shaped by years of collaboration.
