Summer's Winter Shadow | PONTUS

« I was inspired to create something light, spirited and playful for my first work with Les Ballets des Monte-Carlo.

My piece takes the approach of an Impromptu: something that unfolds as prompted by the spirit of the moment.

However, a bright sunny day – or the human experience itself – has both shadows and night. As most of my work deals with or includes aspects of human relationships, partnering has become an important and prominent movement language in my choreographic output. Dance is much about encounters and farewells. The movement becomes a hyper realisation of subtle levels of joy, fear, anxieties, excitement, intimacy, or a combination thereof. I see the work with partnering as a vehicle to share these experiences with the audience ».
