Tsunagu | KOIKE

Mimoza Koïke invites us to celebrate movement through a succession of stages. Punctuated by a series of learning and living experiences, Tsunagu is a journey paying tribute to the people and places that shaped her artistic personality and the naturalism and poetry of her poetry.

A hill of tall grass turns into a toolbox. It becomes the setting for an intersecting or elastic story that is built and deconstructed over time: time of a party, time of the first experiences, time of a laugh and a lifetime. The protagonists then evolve in a story that is both individual and collective. Mimoza Koïke observes these interconnections which magnify our daily ephemeral into moments of joy. They are the essential links in the transmission of the know-how that she stages through play and work.

In the dance steps of Jean-Christophe Maillot and Pina Bausch, Mimoza Koïke combines body movement (dance, everyday life, compulsive, narrative moves) with heterogeneous materials such as images, objects, sounds and voice in actions which involve the complete concentration of the dancer.

Her choreographic writing, contemporary and transcending genres, crosses different languages: those of music, architecture, scenography, performance and visual arts. Mimoza Koïke collaborates with artistic personalities to develop a dance which takes her further, to places she could not go on her own. (Agnès Roux)
