Blurry memories of Yves Klein angry at birds for piercing the sky's blue monochrome… Birds still fly, and nowadays, nobody complains about it. Quite the contrary ! Imagine if animals were as present as human beings in all performance art. If every museum of contemporary art wanted to curate every year a number of events in which animals participate, in one way or another, in the publicly presented artistic projects.

Utopia or near future ... Times have changed. In the past art considered animals through image or taxidermy. Power and symbolism used to agree. And do we not need to understand what is really at play in the contemporary artistic proposals that involve horses, dogs and other living creatures? For this symposium, we wish to examine the artistic processes behind such works of art, and the reactions they create. Figuring out how animals are currently involved in live art, performing arts and installation, does that not make us reconsider the founding definition of the word creation ? Does that not help us know what we expect from Art when it opens, daringly or shyly, to this particular part of life, that is gradually getting more and more attention? This of course does not exclude from our program some explorations of past artistic forms, and other exhibiting devices, to help us understands today's issues.

Artists, researchers and philosophers will discuss our belief that the artistic adventure, and the aesthetic experience, are expanding through meeting new epistemologies.
