BALLESTEROS AnjaraSpanish, born in Madrid, on February 19th, 1982.
Anjara Ballesteros studied dance at the Professional Royal Conservatory of Madrid. During her training, she participated in the European Youth Ballet and Europa Danse, where she performed works by Jiri Kylian, Mats Ek, George Balanchine, John Neumeier, Mauro Bigonzetti, Thierry Malandain, and Hans Van Manen.
She participated in a Gala honoring Nureyev for the Princess Grace Academy of Monaco.
She joined the Compañia Nacional de Danza II de Nacho Duato in Madrid and performed leading roles in Gnawa, Rassamblement, Na Floresta, Alone for a Second, Jardí Tancat, and Remansos. She also worked with choreographers Tony Fabre and Chevy Mudaray.
She joined Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo, directed by Jean-Christophe Maillot, and danced in several of his works: Opus 40, The Beauty, Faust, Romeo and Juliette, Altro Canto I, Altro Canto II, Men’s Dance for Women, and Vers un Pays Sage. 2010 Promoted to soloist, she danced the leading roles of Hermia in The Dream, the White Swan in Lac, Cinderella in Cinderella, Daphnis in Daphnis and Chloé (a role that Jean-Christophe Maillot created for her), Choré and Clara in the Nutcracker Company (a role created for her).
She also collaborated with guest choreographers who created roles for her: Marco Goecke, Emio Greco, Johan Inger, Jeroen Verbruggen, Natalia Horecna, Marie Chouinard, Alexander Ekman.
Awards and distinctions
2nd place and People’s Choice Award at “Cuidad de Torrelavega”.
Bronze medal at the International Competition of Zaragoza.
Awarded with the Prize Ballet 2000.
She created her first choreography No Rem in collaboration with the Monte Carlo Ballet and the École Supérieure d’Arts Plastiques de Monaco.
