Opus 50

J-Ch. Maillot

For his 50th birthday, Jean-Christophe Maillot has created this work in collaboration with his two friends, the composer Marc Monnet and the visual artist Philippe Favier.
Poised where a score which fills the air with emotion meets staging which leaves objects in suspense, Jean-Christophe Maillot’s choreography juxtaposes the disturbing and the luminous to give us a certain view of death.
This death, which we know we must all face one day, forms a bond between the choreographer, composer, stage designer, dancers and the public.
Together, we are changed by this Opus 50 which, in a single breath, encompasses highs and lows, light and darkness, oblivion, hope...
