The Taming of the Shrew

J-Ch. Maillot

An epic ballet created by Jean-Christophe Maillot in 2014 for the Bolshoi dancers, The Taming of the Shrew was awarded three 3 Masques d'Ors (best choreographic show, best male dancer (Petruchio) and best female dancer) and is currently on a world tour. The ballet is back in Monaco, and will be performed by the Ballets de Monte-Carlo for the public's delectation.

"I wanted to convey the idea that there's someone for everyone, irrespective of who or what you are. Who can judge a relationship with an outside eye? Love works in mysterious ways, and it isn't for us to question it." J-Ch. Maillot

« A rollicking, rumbustious and romantic production » THE TIMES

« So it's hats off to Jean-Christophe Maillot for reclaiming the Shrew in this funny, fast-witted version » THE GUARDIAN
